Philtrum Reduction

Philtrum reduction surgery is a procedure designed to shorten the distance between the nose and the upper lip. Ideal Candidates: Individuals with a naturally long philtrum, or those whose philtrum has lengthened with age, resulting in a thinner upper lip. Unsuitable Candidates: Individuals with a 'gummy smile' (where gums are prominently visible when smiling).

About the Procedure

An incision is meticulously made along the natural contours of the nose, followed by careful suturing. As this area tends to heal beautifully, scars become significantly less noticeable over time.

Procedure Duration

Clinic Visits / Suture Removal

Suture removal will be performed after 7 days.

Makeup

Makeup application is permissible from the day after suture removal, avoiding the incision site.

Bathing / Facial Cleansing

Showering and facial cleansing are permitted from the day of the procedure, ensuring the incision site remains dry. From the following day, the incision site may be gently cleansed. Full bathing is permissible from the day after suture removal.

Risks / Side Effects

Post-operative swelling, pain, bruising, infection, discomfort, asymmetry, scarring, wrinkles, bulging, regression, visible teeth, visible nostrils, widening of the nasal alae, cyst.

Downtime

For the initial 2-3 days post-procedure, significant swelling, edema, and discomfort are highly probable. Major swelling will largely subside within approximately 1-2 weeks. Incision sites will become less noticeable within 3-6 months.

Aftercare

On the morning following your procedure, minor bleeding may occur from the treated area. Please gently blot it with a clean gauze. It is essential to gargle and brush your teeth thoroughly after every meal.

Individuals Ineligible for Treatment

Individuals currently taking anticoagulant medications (blood thinners, depending on the specific type), those with severe diabetes, or individuals with a keloid predisposition.
